About
ten years ago I found two second-hand books. The first a fascinating book
called ‘The Death of Forever’ written by microbiologist Darryl
Reanney. In this book he argues that the true human consciousness (when
free of the constraints of our ego) can see the timelessness of the universe.
He calls this feeling ‘Deep Knowing’. The past, the present
and the future all exist side by side.
The second
book, found on the same day, was of black and white transport photographs
taken in the 1970’s. The main subjects of the photographs were of
no great importance, but I found the happenings around the edges intriguing.
Here was rich supply of split second slices of the everyday – captured
without any self-awareness.
Is this where
you might suddenly find Deep Knowing I wonder? In the small corners, which
often appear bleak and vacuous, yet at the same time mysterious, enigmatic
and fleeting.
