Blueprints for Writing

Group members with the Blueprints for Writing booklet. Rear left Course Tutor Ian Larmont, with Barry Hall, Diane Elliot, Kathryn Jeffels and Ann Alexander.

The unique Blueprints For Writing project was led by local children's author Ian Larmont and designed to help anyone who had an idea, that they wished to develop into a piece of writing.

The course gave all the participants an opportunity to explore the essence of rhyme and rhythm as a means of enhancing their own writing skills.

By using children’s poetry as a starting point, Ian took everyone back to the very roots of creative writing – a journey that most adults set out on with great apprehension!

The project proved that there are always new levels of skills to be achieved and something new to learn. The final Blueprints for Writing booklet brought the work of all 15 project members together in one anthology.

In The Box

In the box is a surprise.
In the box is an empty box.
In the box is a bright rainbow.
In the box is a jumping jack.
In the box is a stick of sealing wax.
In the box is a sleeping tortoise.
In the box lies my brother, cold and pale.
In the box, hide all my secrets, loose the key.
In the box is an answered prayer.
In the box is another box.
